Designed for travellers who value depth over speed, this tour combines carefully chosen walks, coastal villages, and thoughtful storytelling — all at a pace that allows the landscape to reveal itself naturally.

The Experience

We leave Cork City/Kinsale in the morning and head west into the softer, quieter landscapes of West Cork — winding roads, coastal views, and places most visitors never quite reach. The pace is easy, the scenery constantly changing, and there’s plenty of time to enjoy the day rather than rush through it.

Our main destination is Lough Hyne, Europe’s first Marine Nature Reserve and one of Ireland’s most unique natural spots. This sheltered saltwater lake has a fascinating mix of history, wildlife, and local folklore. Depending on weather and group comfort, we may take a short walk for elevated views over the lake, or stay closer to the shoreline and soak up the atmosphere at a gentler pace. Either way, it’s a special place that tends to stay with people.

We continue to Baltimore, County Cork, a lively West Cork harbour village best known for the dramatic Sack of Baltimore pirate raid of 1631. Hear about this and enjoy lunch at one of Baltimore’s best restaurants.

After lunch, we make our way through the harbour village of Baltimore, right on the Atlantic edge. There’s time to wander, breathe in the sea air, as we take a short walk to one of the area’s most iconic viewpoints - The Beacon.. If weather isn’t great we can take a short drive to the beacon.

Throughout the day, I’ll share stories of local history, maritime life, famine survival, rebellion, and the modern revival of West Cork — all told in a relaxed, conversational way with plenty of local insight.

We return to Cork City in the evening with fresh sea air, great scenery, and a deeper feel for this quietly beautiful corner of Ireland.
